China Mobile Ltd. posted a fourth straight decline in half-yearly profit as revenue slowed and the carrier continued spending to expand a high-speed network.
Net income fell to 57.3 billion yuan ($9 billion) in the six months ended June 30. Operating revenue was 340.7 billion yuan.
China’s three major phone operators are rolling out faster fourth-generation technology, responding to government pressure to boost network availability while cutting prices for users. Growth in 4G, which commands higher tariffs, may be offset by stiffer competition.
