Natixis Hires Former Deutsche Bank Commodities Exec Grenfell

Updated on

Natixis SA hired Simon Grenfell as global co-head of commodities, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Grenfell, formerly the global head of metal sales and dry bulk at Deutsche Bank AG, joined this month in London, said the people who asked not to be named because the information hasn’t been made public. He will lead the commodities business at Natixis with Henrik Wareborn.

Grenfell’s hire is a major appointment for the bank that in 2012 decided to scale down its commodities business. Paris-based Natixis ended its London-based commodities brokerage that year and left the trading floor of the London Metal Exchange.

Grenfell, 43, spent more than seven years at Deutsche Bank until the firm’s exit from raw materials trading. His roles included serving as global head of commodities origination and syndication and running the Asian commodities business. He also previously worked for Macquarie Group Ltd. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc., according to his LinkedIn profile.

A spokeswoman for Natixis declined to comment.
