Burundian Former Army Chief of Staff Killed in Bujumbura

A Burundian former army Chief of Staff Jean Bikomagu was shot and killed in the capital, Bujumbura, on Saturday, said Willy Nyamitwe, a presidential spokesman.

Bikomagu, who served as head of the army during the East African country’s civil war that ended in 2005, was killed outside his home, Nyamitwe said on his Twitter account.

Calls to police spokesman, Pierre Nkurikiye, were unanswered.
