Anjem Choudary, a radical Islamic preacher, was charged for inviting support for the Islamic State over a nine-month period, London police said in a statement.

Choudary, who was arrested in September, was charged along with Mohammed Rahman for inviting people to support a proscribed terrorist organization. The two men were arrested with seven others last year.

Choudary is a 48-year-old British Muslim and former lawyer.

The two men are scheduled to appear at a London court Wednesday afternoon.
