First Nickel Restarts Lockerby Mine After Explosion Injures One

First Nickel Inc. is resuming normal operations at its Lockerby underground mine in Ontario after an explosion Sunday.

One worker sustained minor injuries and smoke inhalation and three others were checked for inhalation and released, the Canadian mining and exploration company said in a statement distributed by Marketwired. The cause is being investigated.

Lockerby, in the Sudbury basin, reached full production during 2013. In May last year, two workers died in an accident.
