Cantor Fitzgerald LP hired Rafael Elias from Credit Agricole SA as a managing director as it continues to bolster its emerging-market operations.
Elias joined as managing director of emerging markets and debt capital markets, he said in an e-mail.
In May, Cantor announced it had hired Citigroup Inc.’s Steven Gooden for debt trading in London. In March, it announced the hiring of Michael Barfoot as a managing director for emerging-market trading and the hiring of Dray Simpson and Alex Yulman for emerging-market debt sales. Cantor is one of only 22 primary dealers authorized to trade government securities with the Federal Reserve of New York.
Cantor Fitzgerald press official Sheryl Lee didn’t respond to e-mail and telephone messages seeking comment on Elias’s position. Virginie Ourceyre, a spokeswoman for Credit Agricole, didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.
Elias was a New York-based director for emerging-markets trading at France’s Credit Agricole, where he worked since 2010 and focused mainly on Latin America. He previously worked at Exotix Ltd. and Deutsche Bank AG, among others.
