Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt ran his fastest time of the year in winning the 100 meters at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games.

Bolt, a 28-year-old Jamaican who has been slowed by a pelvic injury this season, won the race in 9.87 seconds at the Diamond League meet Friday night at London’s Olympic stadium.

American Mike Rodgers was second in 9.90.

Bolt, who holds the world record of 9.58, was running in his first 100 meters in six weeks. The race comes a month before the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.
