Varoufakis to Attend French Ex-Minister Montebourg’s Picnic

Yanis Varoufakis, Greece’s former finance minister who resigned earlier this month, plans to attend the annual August picnic hosted by French politician and anti-austerity advocate Arnaud Montebourg, the organizers said.

The Greek economist will join the lunch and make a speech before taking part in a debate with Montebourg, a former Economy Minister in President Francois Hollande’s government, Denis Lamard, who heads the organizing committee, said by telephone.

The event, founded by the French Socialist party members in 1973, is held every year in Frangy-en-Bresse, eastern France.
