Boko Haram Militants Attack Nigerian Town Near Maiduguri

Twenty-five people were killed when Boko Haram militants attacked a town near the city of Maiduguri in the northeast of Nigeria, Hassan Ibrahim, a member of a vigilante group said.

More than 100 rebels stormed Mainok village in Borno state early on Monday and opened fire in an attack that lasted about four hours, Ibrahim said by phone.

Vehicles in the town and the road connecting the village to Maiduguri were set alight, he said. “More than 30 vehicles were burnt as well as hundreds of homes.”
