Sunrise Communications Group AG, Switzerland’s second-largest mobile-phone operator, said Chairman Dominik Koechlin died unexpectedly. He was 56.
Koechlin died Sunday after a “rapid deterioration in his state of health,” the Zurich-based company said Monday in a statement. “We offer his family our deepest and most sincere condolences.”
Vice Chairman Lorne Somerville will become chairman until the next annual shareholder meeting, Sunrise said. Koechlin was also a board member of Swiss chemicals company Clariant AG, Avaloq, a financial-software maker, and LGT Group, a bank in Liechtenstein.
Sunrise sold shares in February in Switzerland’s largest initial public offering in eight years.
