Vattenfall, Munich Utility Start Building Sandbank Wind Farm

Vattenfall AB and Stadtwerke Muenchen GmbH have started building the 288-megawatt Sandbank wind farm off Germany’s North Sea coast.

The project, due to start operating in 2017, has a total investment of about 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion), Vattenfall GmbH said Wednesday in an e-mailed statement. It will use 72 Siemens AG wind turbines.
