Wilderness Holdings Ltd., an eco-tourism safari operator based in Botswana, said it’s in talks about a potential takeover by a unit of businessman Stanley Tollman’s The Travel Corporation.
Wilderness, which is listed in Johannesburg and Botswana and has a market capitalization of 1.6 billion rand ($127 million), entered discussions after receiving a notice of intention to make an offer for the company from Wine Investments Ltd., Wilderness said in a statement on Thursday. It didn’t provide further details about the potential offer.
Wilderness shares were unchanged at 6.70 rand at 4:12 p.m. in Johannesburg. Wine Investments owned about 35 percent of Wilderness as of February 2014, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
