Yingli Supplying 40 Megawatts of Solar Modules in Honduras

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co., the second-largest solar manufacturer, is supplying panels with 40 megawatts of capacity to two power plants in Honduras.

Yingli is delivering 25 megawatts for the first phase of a 50-megawatt project in Nacaome and 15 megawatts for a utility-scale solar farm in Choluteca, the Baoding, China-based company said in a statement Wednesday. Terms of the sale to Sybac Solar LLC weren’t disclosed.

Pursuing sales in Latin America “is bearing fruit,” Yingli Chief Executive Officer Liansheng Miao said in the statement. It’s a winning strategy “particularly as markets mature, solar-friendly policies are legislated, and larger projects become the norm.”

The company’s chief financial officer, Yiyu Wang, said on June 5 that later this year Yingli may report its first profit since 2011.

Yingli was the biggest panel maker until surpassed last year by Trina Solar Ltd.
