FIFA Executive Committee Meets July 20 to Set Election Date

FIFA said it will hold an executive committee meeting July 20 in Zurich to set the date for its presidential election after Sepp Blatter said he will step down.

The special election will be held between December and February in Zurich, soccer’s global ruling body said in a statement on its website.

Blatter said he would resign days after winning a fifth term. Last month, police arrested FIFA officials, who were among 14 soccer and marketing executives indicted on U.S. charges including racketeering, money laundering and tax evasion, as they gathered for the election.
