Nigerian Army Repels Boko Haram Attack That Killed 5 People

Nigeria’s army repelled an attack by Islamist militants Boko Haram on the northeastern town Maiduguri that left five residents dead.

The fighting, which started at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, lasted two hours , Hassan Ibrahim, an eyewitness, said by phone. A man who was sleeping in the open was killed by a stray bullet, while four people died in an explosion at their home, Abdul Ganiyu Lawan, a resident of Maiduguri, said by phone.
