Credit Suisse Names Lester to Lead Internet Investment Banking

Credit Suisse Group AG hired Cameron Lester, a general partner at venture-capital firm Azure Capital Partners, as head of global Internet investment banking.

Lester, 48, who starts in July, will be based in San Francisco and report to the firm’s technology group, according to a statement Tuesday. He is replacing Imran Khan, who left the firm in December to join Snapchat Inc. as chief strategy officer.

At Azure, Lester invested in companies such as VMware Inc. and Salesforce.com Inc., according to the firm’s website. Lester is returning to Credit Suisse, where he was head of the software investment banking group 1998 and 2000, before starting the venture-capital firm.

Credit Suisse is ranked fourth in Internet IPO underwriting over the last 12 months, after Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Deutsche Bank AG, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The firm advised on eight Internet IPOs including Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., Box Inc. and Shopify Inc. during that period, the data show.

Separately, Evercore Partners Inc. said Jeffrey Rosichan will join as a Menlo Park, California-based managing director in equity capital markets from Deutsche Bank. Tom Stokes, who was most recently at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., will be a New York-based managing director in Evercore’s technology group.
