British shares were ended the day with an advance as a rally in Barclays Plc and Vodafone Group Plc lifted the FTSE 100 Index.
The benchmark added 0.2 percent to 7007.26 at the close in London, the third day of gains. The broader FTSE All-Share Index rose 0.1 percent, and Ireland’s ISEQ Index climbed 0.6 percent.
Barclays Plc added 3.4 percent after agreeing to pay $115 million to resolve claims it attempted to manipulate a key interest-rate benchmark. Vodafone added 5.4 percent after Liberty Global Plc Chairman John Malone said a tie-up would be a “great fit” for his cable empire in western Europe.
Burberry Group Plc lost 5 percent after lowering its annual earnings forecast.
Hargreaves Lansdown Plc fell 1.9 percent, snapping a five-day winning streak, after posting an interim trading update.
Old Mutual Plc fell 1.1 percent after JPMorgan Chase & Co. downgraded the stock to neutral.
