Showa Shell Unit to Develop 100MW of Solar in U.K. With Partner

Solar Frontier K.K., the solar panel-making unit of Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K., will develop and sell as much as 100 megawatts of solar-power projects with New Energy for the World GmbH.

Construction of the first project is scheduled to start in the third quarter this year, Solar Frontier said in an e-mailed statement Wednesday. The partners plan to develop about 20 projects, Satoshi Yoshida, a spokesman for Solar Frontier, said by phone.

Solar Frontier makes panels using copper, indium, gallium and selenium, known as CIGS.
