JPMorgan Chase & Co. said consumers are once again able to log on to their online accounts with the bank following an outage that began earlier Friday.
Some consumers may still experience slowness on the website, said Trish Wexler, a spokeswoman for JPMorgan in New York.
The bank has ruled out criminal activity as a possible cause, said a person with knowledge of the situation. Heavy traffic on one of the bank’s busiest days of the month may be a factor, said the person, who asked not to be identified without authorization to speak publicly about the issue.
Capital One Financial Corp. customers also experienced intermittent access to a credit-card servicing system and mobile-phone application, Pam Girardo, a spokeswoman for the bank, said in an e-mail. The online servicing site was quickly restored, though some cardholders couldn’t use the mobile app through the afternoon, she said.
