First Solar Wins Approval for 369-Megawatt Solar Farm in Chile

First Solar Inc. , the biggest U.S. solar panel producer, won environmental approval for a 369-megawatt solar farm in Chile, according to a Stifel Nicolaus & Co. analyst.

Getting the approval means First Solar can begin construction on the $823 million Parque Solar Fotovoltaico Sol del Desierto project, Sven Eenmaa said Thursday in a note to clients, citing a government notice posted Wednesday.

The approval “indicates to us continued progress by the company in building a pipeline of international projects,” Eenmaa said in the note.

First Solar, based in Tempe, Arizona, declined to comment.
