Royal Bank of Canada hired Deutsche Bank AG’s James Chapman to head its European credit trading business, according to two people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the information is private.
Chapman will be based in London and report to Mike Meyer, the bank’s global head of credit in New York, said one of the people. He was head of sterling and euro corporate trading at Deutsche Bank, the person said.
Sarah Small, a spokeswoman for RBC in London and Deutsche Bank spokesman Charlie Olivier declined to comment on the move. Chapman also declined to comment.
Chapman replaces Ian Pearce who left the bank in January and has been hired by Bank of America Corp. as head of sterling credit trading. Matthew Davies and Mehdi Kashani are the interim co-heads of European credit at RBC.
