Nigerian President Jonathan Sacks Top Police Chief Suleiman Abba

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, who lost an election last month, relieved the Inspector-General of Police Suleiman Abba of his post on Tuesday.

“President Jonathan has also appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase as Acting Inspector-General of Police, also with immediate effect,” Reuben Abati, an Abuja-based spokesman for Jonthan, said in an e-mailed statement.
