U.K. stocks tumbled, erasing an earlier advance, sending the FTSE 100 Index to its steepest decline of the month.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals Plc fell 2.1 percent, posting its worst week in a year. Royal Dutch Shell Plc lost 1 percent. Barclays Plc fell 1.9 percent, tracking a decline in European bank stocks.
The FTSE 100 retreated 0.9 percent to 6,994.63 at the close in London, bringing its weekly decline to 1.3 percent. The measure had earlier today risen as much as 0.5 percent. The FTSE All-Share Index slipped 0.9 percent, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index dropped 1.3 percent.
