Sony Corp. postponed the planned Jan. 11 introduction of its PlayStation 4 console in China after the Chinese government asked for adjustments.
The company’s video game unit needs time to make changes after requests from the Chinese government, said Kaede Bun, a spokeswoman for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., without elaborating on the changes.
“The government asked us for final adjustments, which will take some time, so we decided to delay the launch date,” Bun said. Sony will provide details of the new release date at a later time, she said.
Console makers and game developers are moving into China after the end of a government ban imposed in 2000, trying to win over a generation of players who shifted to computers and mobile devices.
