Aug. 28 (Bloomberg) -- SunEdison Inc., the best-performing solar company this year, completed solar power systems at a California state hospital and a prison.

A 2.6 megawatt system at the Coalinga State Hospital and a 1.6 megawatt unit at the Pleasant Valley State Prison together will provide enough electricity annually to power about 800 homes, SunEdison said in a statement today.

The St. Peters, Missouri-based company has installed 40 megawatts of solar at 12 locations for the California Department of Corrections, Bob Powell, president for North America at SunEdison, said in the statement. SunEdison subsidiary TerraForm Power Inc., will own the solar systems and sell power under 20-year agreements.
