Neyveli Lignite Corp., an Indian power-generation company, is spending 4.2 billion rupees ($70 million) to establish 61 megawatts of clean-power plants.
Neyveli Lignite is working on a 51-megawatt wind power project in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu state, the company said in its annual report. Leitwind Shriram Manufacturing is building the plant.
The state-run power generator also will make a 10-megawatt solar power farm in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu state, according to the report. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. is constructing that project and may finish work by January.
Neyveli Lignite is considering another 10 megawatts of solar power capacity at a plant in Rajasthan state. That would cost 930 million rupees.
