LeBron James’s Homecoming Debut Game Will Be Against N.Y. Knicks

LeBron James’s homecoming with the Cleveland Cavaliers will begin Oct. 30 against the visiting New York Knicks, two nights after the National Basketball Association regular season begins with three games.

The NBA-champion San Antonio Spurs host the Dallas Mavericks in one of those three opening-night games, according to the league’s 1,230-game schedule released tonight.

The 2014-15 schedule includes a one-week break surrounding the All-Star Game on Feb. 15 at New York’s Madison Square Garden and features five Christmas Day games -- including James’s return to Miami, where he won two NBA championships before moving back to Cleveland as a free agent.

The Los Angeles Clippers, in their first season following the $2 billion sale of the team to Steve Ballmer from the Sterling family, will open at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 30. The next night, they play against the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom they share Staples Arena.

There will be two regular-season games at international sites, with the Minnesota Timberwolves facing the Houston Rockets in Mexico City on Nov. 12 and the Milwaukee Bucks playing the Knicks at London’s O2 Arena on Jan. 15.
