Aug. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Rafael Nadal’s recovery from a wrist injury that forced him to skip two tournaments ahead of the U.S. Open is “progressing as expected,” the Spanish tennis federation said on its website.
Nadal, the defending U.S. Open champion, withdrew from this week’s Roger Cup in Toronto and an event next week in Cincinnati after hurting his right hand in practice last month.
The left-handed Spaniard earlier today posted a few pictures of himself on his Facebook page training at home on the island of Mallorca with his long-time coach and uncle Toni Nadal, his right wrist in a cast.
The U.S. Open starts Aug. 25 in New York.
