July 31 (Bloomberg) -- Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd., a unit of India’s biggest industrial group, has completed a 2-megawatt solar rooftop plant in the country’s south.
Panels were installed on top of spinning mills and a warehouse owned by Murugan Textiles in Palladam in southern Tamil Nadu state, according to an e-mailed statement today from Tata Power Solar.
Murugan Textiles will expand the project to 3 megawatts next year, according to the statement.
India’s government is seeking to promote rooftop solar installations after the country built 2,647 megawatts of capacity, almost all of it large, desert plants.
