Xylem Submersible Pumps to Aid Europe’s Biggest Wastewater Plant

June 18 (Bloomberg) -- Xylem Inc., the water-technology company spun off by ITT Corp., will be supplying its Flygt brand submersible pumps to a project modernizing Europe’s largest wastewater-treatment plant outside Paris.

The Rye Brook, New York-based company gave no terms in today’s statement for the contract, part of works to upgrade the Acheres Seine Aval plant, the world’s second-biggest, which each day treats about 1.5 million cubic meters of sludge and wastewater in the Paris region.

The infrastructure works will help maintain the water quality of the Seine River, increase the treatment efficiency of the plant and minimize energy consumption, said Xylem, whose pumps helped clear New York tunnels after Hurricane Sandy.
