June 13 (Bloomberg) -- The Los Angeles Kings took a 1-0 lead after the first period as they tried to finish off the New York Rangers and clinch the Stanley Cup title.

The host Kings lead three games to one in the best-of-seven National Hockey League championship series and need one more win to capture the title.

Justin Williams slid a rebound through a pile of players and between the skates of New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist for the Kings’ goal six minutes into the game.

The Kings, who didn’t hold a lead in the series until the first period of Game 3, are trying to become the first team to win two Stanley Cup titles in a three-year span since the Detroit Red Wings repeated as champions in 1997 and 1998.
