U.S. Olympic Committee Picks Four Cities for Potential 2024 Bid

June 13 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Olympic Committee today narrowed its candidates for a potential U.S. bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics to Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, while eliminating Dallas and San Diego.

The USOC said in an e-mailed release that it will decide, probably in early 2015, whether to bid for the 2024 Games and then would select a city. The International Olympic Committee will choose the 2024 host city in 2017.

The selection of the four cities came after a 16-month process that began with the USOC reaching out to about 35 U.S. cities, including New York.

Three U.S. cities have hosted the Summer Olympics -- Los Angeles in 1932 and 1984; St. Louis in 1904, and Atlanta in 1996.
