June 4 (Bloomberg) -- TransCanada Corp. signed agreements with Chevron Corp. and Apache Corp. for a C$1.9 billion ($1.7 billion) pipeline that would help natural gas reach a proposed export facility near Kitimat, British Columbia.

The agreement calls for delivery of about 1.9 billion cubic feet of gas a day on the Merrick Mainline project, Calgary-based TransCanada said in a statement today.

“The initial work for the project is proceeding well, and we anticipate filing an application with the National Energy Board in the fourth quarter of 2014 for approvals to build and operate the project,” TransCanada Chief Executive Officer Russ Girling said in the statement. “Subject to the necessary approvals, we expect the Merrick Mainline to begin service in the first quarter of 2020.”
