Czech Party Uses Sex at Work Ad to Lure Voters to Polls

The Czech Social Democrats, the largest ruling coalition party, are using a video featuring sex at work as part of their campaign to promote employment policies ahead of European Parliament elections.

The 51-second video, made by the party’s youth group, shows a young blond woman going into an office room and closing the door, apparently to have sex during her lunch break. A voiceover says it’s a “fine” way to spend breaks and it’s a shame that more than 500,000 Czechs are unemployed and thus deprived of such chances. The April jobless rate was at 7.9 percent, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The Social Democrats, who won October early elections, are trying to raise their profile among Czechs as voter support has shifted in favor of the ANO party of billionaire Andrej Babis, according to opinion polls.

“There’s no need to be overly prudish,” Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said about criticism of the video, reported May 6.

The video has had almost 100,000 views since it was posted on Youtube on May 4. Czechs go to the polls to vote in European Parliament elections on May 23-24.
