May 8 (Bloomberg) -- All-American defensive end Jadeveon Clowney signed an endorsement deal with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. that the company said will make him “the face of Wilson Football.”
Clowney, who might be the first player taken in tonight’s National Football League draft, signed with the Chicago-based sporting goods company today as it opens a new line of football gloves and protective gear, Wilson said in a news release. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
The former University of South Carolina player also will be endorsing Wilson footballs and mouth guards. Wilson, which has been an NFL partner since 1941, is the league’s official football maker.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the only other football player listed as an endorser on the website of Wilson, which is a division of Helsinki-based Amer Sports Oyj. Other athletes with Wilson deals include tennis players Roger Federer and Serena Williams, baseball players Yasiel Puig and David Wright, and basketball players Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.
Clowney yesterday signed an endorsement deal with shoe company Puma SE, according to ESPN.
