April 17 (Bloomberg) -- Trina Solar Ltd., which last month sold its first utility-scale power plant in China, connected two photovoltaic projects to the U.K. grid with 23.8 megawatts of capacity.

Construction on the plants in Cornwall and Dorset began in December, and they will provide enough electricity for almost 7,500 homes, Changzhou, China-based Trina said today in a statement.

Trina views the U.K. “as a high-growth market for solar,” Chief Executive Officer Gao Jifan said in the statement. “Europe remains a major market for Trina Solar, both in terms of modules and downstream projects.”

Trina was the largest panel maker by 2012 shipments after Yingli Green Energy Holding Co., and excluding Suntech Power Holdings Co., whose main unit filed for bankruptcy protection in China in March 2013.
