Tesla Should Be Free to Bypass Dealerships, Jackson Says

April 17 (Bloomberg) -- Tesla Motors Inc. should be given the ability to bypass dealerships and sell its electric cars directly to consumers, AutoNation Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mike Jackson said.

Tesla, restricted by laws in New Jersey, Texas and elsewhere that forbid auto manufacturers from retail sales, isn’t a threat to AutoNation, the biggest new-car dealership group in the U.S., Jackson said on Bloomberg Television.
