Dee Dee Myers Brings ‘West Wing’ to Warner Bros. Ranks

April 16 (Bloomberg) -- Dee Dee Myers, the first woman to serve as White House press secretary, was named executive vice president of corporate communications and public affairs at Warner Bros., producer of the Washington TV drama “West Wing.”

Myers, press secretary under President Bill Clinton, takes up the new role on Sept. 2, Burbank, California-based Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc., said today in a statement. She replaces Sue Fleishman, who is leaving the studio.

The former White House press aide reports to Kevin Tsujihara, who took over as chief executive officer of Warner Bros. a year ago and has been assembling his management team. Myers will oversee corporate communications worldwide, including media relations, executive communications, corporate responsibility and philanthropy, the studio said.

Myers advised Hollywood writer Aaron Sorkin when he was creating the White House political drama “West Wing” for TV, a show that featured actress Allison Janney as press secretary for the fictional Bartlett administration.

The series, produced by Warner Bros., ran on NBC for seven seasons until 2006, according to

Myers is currently managing director of the Glover Park Group, specializing in strategic communications.

Time Warner, also the owner of CNN and HBO, rose 1.9 percent to $64.49 at the close in New York. The stock has declined 7.5 percent this year.
