April 17 (Bloomberg) -- Hardy Manges will help oversee municipal trading and underwriting for Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., the financial services firm and primary dealer.
Manges, 46, who previously ran the secondary municipal trading desk at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities, was appointed managing director and co-head of municipal debt capital markets, Cantor said yesterday in a news release. He will work alongside co-head Jim Dolan.
Hiring Manges fits Cantor’s strategy of broadening its municipal-bond work, said Shawn Matthews, chief executive officer of the New York-based firm.
“The expansion of our municipal sales and trading business has been a key focus for us, particularly in competitive underwriting,” Matthews said in a statement.
Cantor serves more than 7,000 institutional clients globally and is one of 22 primary dealers authorized to trade U.S. government securities with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
