April 14 (Bloomberg) -- JA Solar Holdings Co., a Chinese solar manufacturer, said first-quarter shipments will be higher than the company’s earlier forecast.
Shipments for the quarter will exceed 620 megawatts, higher than a March forecast of 580 megawatts to 610 megawatts, Shanghai-based JA Solar said today in a statement. The company reiterated its full-year forecast of 2.7 gigawatts to 2.9 gigawatts.
JA Solar’s upward revision contrasts with competitors Trina Solar Ltd. and Yingli Green Energy Holding Co which said last week that first-quarter shipments would be lower than expected.
JA Solar’s American depositary receipts, each worth five ordinary shares, gained 5.9 percent to $9.87 at 10:13 a.m. in New York.
