SunEdison Sells Majority Stake in 50.7-Megawatt Chile Solar Farm

SunEdison Inc. sold a majority stake in a solar farm in northern Chile to EverStream Energy Capital Management LLC and Claro y Asociados. Terms weren’t disclosed.

The San Andres power plant in Chile’s Atacama Desert region has 50.7 megawatts of capacity and began producing electricity last month to sell into the spot market, according to a March 31 statement from St. Peters, Missouri-based SunEdison. The solar developer and polysilicon supplier was formerly known as MEMC Electronic Materials Inc.

In November, SunEdison got $100.4 million in loans and a local Chilean peso VAT facility worth $25.6 million to develop the project.
