April 3 (Bloomberg) -- Itron Inc., the largest U.S. maker of metering devices that save energy and cut waste, is supplying its technology to Saudi Arabia’s National Water Co. for use in Jeddah.
Itron is providing wireless modules specially designed to withstand extreme heat, the Liberty Lake, Washington-based company said today in a statement. Terms of the agreement with Saudi Arabia’s largest water supplier weren’t disclosed.
Installation of the Itron meters is under way, according to the statement. Most water in Jeddah comes from desalination plants. Riyadh is the nation’s largest city by population.
