April 1 (Bloomberg) -- Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes was placed on the 15-day disabled list after feeling tightness in his left hamstring during the team’s season-opening game.

The Blue Jays called up infielder Jonathan Diaz from Triple-A Buffalo to fill Reyes’s spot on the roster, the club said in a statement.

Reyes, 30, missed five spring training games because of the hamstring injury and then played in two exhibitions in Montreal. He had one at-bat in yesterday’s 9-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays before leaving the field.

Reyes, a four-time All-Star, was limited to 92 games last year in his first season with the Blue Jays because of an ankle injury. He batted .296 with 10 home runs, 37 runs batted in and 15 stolen bases.
