March 22 (Bloomberg) -- The Oakland Raiders acquired former Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Schaub from the Houston Texans in exchange for an undisclosed pick in May’s National Football League draft.

Yesterday’s trade came one day after the Texans signed veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, a Harvard University alum.

Houston has the top pick in the draft after going 2-14 last season. Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner out of Texas A&M University, Teddy Bridgewater of the University of Louisville and Blake Bortles of the University of Central Florida are the top three quarterback prospects, according to Scouts Inc.

Schaub, 32, led the Texans to division titles in 2011 and 2012, the team’s first playoff appearances since joining the league in 2002. A Pro Bowl selection in 2009 and 2012, Schaub lost his final six starts last year, finishing the season with 10 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions.

Schaub has a $10 million base salary for 2014, according to ESPN. The Texans will save around $4 million in cap space, the network said.

Schaub joins an Oakland team that went 4-12 last year with three different starting quarterbacks. Terrelle Pryor, who made a team-high nine starts, threw for seven scores and 11 interceptions.
