March 21 (Bloomberg) -- Havas SA Chief Executive Officer Yannick Bollore said the advertising company may explore acquisitions in technology as well as deals with companies specializing in audiovisual content.
“We have lots of interest in other technology companies,” Bollore said in an interview with Bloomberg TV today. “At the same time we are looking to work closer with content companies, to have an expertise about audiovisual content, about music, this could make sense.”
Bollore took over as chief at Havas in January after former CEO David Jones left to start his own company. Bollore, who formerly served as the chairman of Havas, is the son of billionaire Vincent Bollore, the largest shareholder in Havas and future chairman of Vivendi SA when the conglomerate separates its telecommunications business from media assets.
Yannick Bollore said today the planned merger of rival ad companies Publicis Groupe SA and New York-based Omnicom Group Inc. “could create opportunities” for Havas once its approved. The merger, which would create the world’s largest advertising company, still awaits Chinese regulatory approval.
