March 18 (Bloomberg) -- Manulife Financial Corp., Canada’s largest life insurer, hired Michael Evans as a managing director and U.S. equity specialist for its asset-management unit.
Evans, 45, will be based in Boston and report to Jeffrey Santerre, senior managing director and global head of the portfolio specialist team, the Toronto-based firm said today in a statement.
“With the increase in our equity investment capabilities at Manulife Asset Management in recent years, and increased interest from our institutional clients, we are pleased to add an experienced investment professional like Mike to our organization,” Santerre said in the statement.
Evans joins from Evercore Asset Management LLC, where he was a senior equity-research analyst focusing on small and mid-size investment funds, according to the statement. He earlier worked as a fixed-income analyst at Gray Capital Management.
Evans is a graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and has a master’s degree in finance from Boston College.
