March 6 (Bloomberg) -- Duke Energy Corp., the largest U.S. utility owner, is buying two 20-megawatt solar plants in California from Infigen Energy.
The Pumpjack and Wildwood projects in Kern County, near Bakersfield, are Duke’s third and fourth utility-scale solar farms in the state, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said today in a statement. Terms weren’t disclosed.
Southern California Edison Co. has agreed to buy electricity from the projects under a 20-year agreement.
When the Pumpjack and Wildwood projects begin producing power later this year, Duke’s U.S. solar capacity across 23 utility-scale facilities will be 185 megawatts, according to the statement. More than 65 megawatts will be in California.
