Senate Advances U.S. Farm Bill Toward Final Vote Tomorrow

Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- The Senate voted 72-22 to advance a measure to set U.S. agricultural policy, with a vote on final passage scheduled for tomorrow.

The House last week passed the bill, 251-166. The measure would cost $956.4 billion over a decade. President Barack Obama plans to sign the bill, spokesman Jay Carney said last week.

The measure would reduce spending by $16.6 billion over 10 years, with half of that coming from cuts to food stamps, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

The legislation is H.R. 2642.
