Vikings’ Peterson Needs Six Weeks of Rehab After Groin Surgery

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson underwent groin surgery that will require about six weeks of rehabilitation before he’s fully recovered, the National Football League team said.

Peterson, selected to the Pro Bowl in six of his seven NFL seasons, rushed for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013, when he missed two of the Vikings’ final four games because of the injury. He led the NFL in 2012 with 2,097 rushing yards, nine shy of the single-season record.

Peterson, 28, had the adductor muscle in his upper inner thigh repaired during today’s procedure in Philadelphia, the team said in an e-mailed news release.
