Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Ernie Els switched equipment companies to Adams Golf from Callaway Golf Co., signing a multiyear contract.
The four-time major champion will use a variety of Adams clubs and equipment and endorse the company on his golf bag and hats, Plano, Texas-based Adams said in a statement.
Els, a 44-year-old South African, has won four majors using clubs made by three different companies. After winning the 1994 U.S. Open with Lynx Golf clubs, Els captured the 1997 U.S. and 2002 British opens with Adidas AG’s TaylorMade equipment before switching to Callaway and winning the 2012 British Open.
While TaylorMade purchased Adams in 2012, the companies produce two separate lines of clubs.
Els, who has 70 career wins, was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011. He is currently No. 27 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
